Tansiting Thursday, May 10 through Monday, May 14, 2018 #HUMANDESIGN

The Sun has now moved to Gate 23, EXPLANATION or ASSIMILATION. In the I-Ching, this hexagram is called SPLITTING APART. I like to call it BREAKING IT DOWN.

This is the energy for BREAKING DOWN very complex ideas and concepts into digestible pieces that are easier to understand. It is SPLITTING APART what could be an overwhelming concept into understandable pieces. This is a process of course. It is as much an internal process of understanding the grand inspiration as it is a method for communicating it.

Be careful though. Right timing is everything. This is part of what is lovingly called the GENIUS TO FREAK channel. You can either come off as a freak or a genius depending on when you communicate. It is just as much about waiting until you have broken it down in an understandable way for yourself as it is about waiting until people are ready to hear it.

People with this energy can be a bit lost in their head which is understandable. This also means they can have a tendency to be a bit far away when they are with you. OK I'll just say it. They are not known to be good listeners. Frustrating to say the least for the people around them but certainly not personal. You'd be lost in your head too if you were solving the puzzle of how to break down enormous concepts into digestible pieces for the good of humanity.

How would you rate your listening skills in general? Do you have the ability to get out of your own head and really listen to people? Or is this a challenge for you? Do you have a tendency to think out loud before your thoughts are fully formed? How can you do a better job of stopping to really listen to what they have to say first? Get into the habit of saying "I have kind of a crazy idea. Would you like to hear about it?"

Transiting Friday, May 4, through Wednesday, May 9, 2018 #HUMANDESIGN

The sun has now moved into Gate 2, RECEIVE SUPPORT*, KEEPER OF THE KEYS, or RECEPTIVITY*. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE RECEPTIVE.

You can kind of see where this is going. This is the energy for receiving resources. It is not necessarily the energy for creating resources. Of course there is a high expression of RECEIVING SUPPORT and a low expression. Meaning one can hold on to what they get or spend it recklessly. But in general, someone who has this energy defined at the time of their birth will RECEIVE THE SUPPORT they need. How they manage that SUPPORT is another thing altogether. The high expression of this is managing resources RECEIVED to make a substantive contribution in this world.

I'm a bit tempted to say something off the cuff and lighthearted about sugar babies. Hence the video above. The energy for having a sugar mama or sugar daddy is certainly there. But it is not a given. Or even trust fund babies. Absolutely. But I hesitate to infantilize anyone with this energy. Because someone with this energy has the potential to utilize their propensity for receiving support in a powerfully positive way. Or not.

Do you accept SUPPORT a little too readily? Is that bad? Do you trust in your own ability to gather resources? If not, why? How can you better appreciate the weight of this SUPPORT in your life, the blessing really, and feel more gratitude?

When it comes down to it, isn't this energy for being RECEPTIVE to SUPPORT also a glorious example of self worth? Wouldn't we all love to have the energy to accept help in a gracious way because deep down we know we deserve it? 

For those of us who do not have this energy defined, I invite you to take a look at these themes in your own life. Do you have trouble RECEIVING SUPPORT? Does it make you feel uncomfortable? Why? Is it that you don't believe you deserve it? Do you think there is something wrong with RECEIVING SUPPORT? Why? How can you allow yourself to trust the offer of SUPPORT in your life?

This is an area in which I am no expert. I find it difficult to accept SUPPORT. So I will ruminate on these themes myself during this time for sure. 

When I got married last year I was greatly humbled by the amount of SUPPORT (both emotional, physical, and financial) I received from my friends and family. It was an exercise in discomfort and gratitude.

But here is the thing, when you accept SUPPORT a closer bond is formed. It makes both parties feel closer to one another. This was something I didn't understand before because I have so rarely accepted SUPPORT in the past. The people who love you want to contribute and help in any way they can. They want to feel important to your life.

It is a humbling and empowering experience all at once to let go and RECEIVE SUPPORT.   

Just, you know, don't make a career out of it.

I KID! No judgement here. Really. We all have our own path. Some of us are meant to RECEIVE SUPPORT in this lifetime. This is right and true. If you are THE KEEPER OF THE KEYS, be grateful, make the most of this opportunity to be a force for good.

Transiting Saturday, April 28 through Thursday, May 3, 2018 #HUMANDESIGN

The sun has now moved into Gate 24, RATIONALIZATION. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called RETURNING.

This is the energy for RATIONALIZING what has been, what is, and what will be. It's about making the best of a situation. But also it is RETURNING to a problem over and over until it is tweaked in a manner that is acceptable. Now of course there is the potential for the shadow side of this which is RATIONALIZING the bad behavior of our loved ones or worse, RATIONALIZING our own bad behavior.    

This energy is part of the KNOWING circuit so there is a knowingness at play here that is not based on evidence. But the trick is recognizing what is a positive RATIONALIZATION that moves invention forward versus RATIONALIZING what isn't working.

While this energy is transiting, take a moment to review what is not working in your life and apply the gift of RATIONALIZATION to the problem. But ask yourself, "am I RATIONALIZING a bad situation to the point where I am frozen and unable to act?" How can you understand and support the behavior of the people in your life without encouraging them to misbehave? 

But look, no one is going to begrudge you RATIONALIZING a piece of delicious pie because you worked out earlier in the day. We are only human after all. You may not lose that pound but you're not going to gain a pound either. The truth is, you probably do deserve it.

Aw jeeze, just eat the pie.

The Sun has now moved to Gate 27, RESPONSIBILITY or NOURISHING. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called NOURISHMENT. 

This is the energy for transmitting values and NOURISHMENT to the tribe. The classic example of this energy is the Mama Bear who takes care of her family, often at great cost to her own well being. It can easily turn into co-dependent energy that takes enormous RESPONSIBILITY for everyone and everything. The highest expression of this energy however is altruism while still maintaining a healthy sense of self preservation; easier said than done.

People with NOURISHING defined in their chart are often wonderful cooks who quite literally find joy in feeding and NOURISHING their loved ones. We love that.  

Michael Moore is a great example of someone compelled to educate/remind the citizens of the United States about its core values. Core values that for him are all about taking care of its citizens. Not surprising because he has RESPONSIBILITY defined by the Sun in his chart. He also has the Gate of Shock defined by Mercury so you can see why he often tries to communicate these values in a way that will quite literally shock people into enlightenment.    

While this NOURISHING energy is transiting this week, I invite you to think about how much you self sacrifice yourself for your loved ones. Are you someone who puts others before yourself? Is it possible to find more balance? An important part of imparting values includes teaching others to take RESPONSIBILITY for themselves. Can you see how doing everything for others may fall short of that goal?

For those of us who do not have this energy defined, how can we find ways to be more NOURISHING to our loved ones on a regular basis? Is there something you could do this week to demonstrate how very much you care?        

Just don't ask me to cook. That wouldn't work out for anyone.

The Sun now moves into Gate 3, INNOVATION, or ORDERING. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called DIFFICULTY AT THE BEGINNING.

This energy is all about shifting away from the status quo and finding a better way to do things. A more rebellious take on the energy is to refuse to participate in the status quo at all and create chaos. Ultimately, someone who has this defined however needs to feel they are part of something INNOVATIVE. They thrive in situations where they are doing something brand new, the stranger the better. 

So it follows when someone is behaving in innovative ways, they will experience DIFFICULTY AT THE BEGINNING. Change is hard and it is often met with resistance. So if this energy is defined in your chart, understand that choosing the new way to do something will mean it is also the DIFFICULT way, especially at first.

In Human Design we often say if you are experiencing resistance, it is a sign you are not following your strategy and authority. But if you are a walking agent for INNOVATION, odds are you will experience DIFFICULTY AT THE BEGINNING even when you are on the right path. Don't be dissuaded by the DIFFICULTY. It is part of the process and the cost frankly for INNOVATION.

Both my Mother and my Sister are defined by the Sun in Gate 3. Which means it's their birthday this week. They are both unusual, fascinating women and I cherish the conditioning of Gate 3 in my life. They do things in their own way and they don't particularly care if it lines up with how other folks do things. I really love that about them. 

While this INNOVATIVE energy is transiting, I encourage you to allow yourself to look at what is working and what is not working in your life and think about how you might approach things differently. INNOVATION may or may not work. That's the point. This is a great time to experiment. What if that thing you always do in exactly the same way was turned on its head? Would that be so terrible? Wouldn't it be great to discover a completely different approach that works better? 

We really must support the energy for INNOVATION in this world. It is the way forward.

Transiting Wednesday, April 11 through Sunday, April 15, 2018

The Sun has now traveled to Gate 42, FINISHING THINGS or COMPLETION. In the I-Ching, this hexagram is called INCREASE.

This is the energy for, you guessed it, FINISHING THINGS. What it is not however is the energy for starting things. Tricky that. So someone with this energy defined without its counterpart, Gate 53, STARTING THINGS are better off when they respond to an existing situation where they can come in and COMPLETE the project. So many of us struggle to FINISH THINGS. What a wonderful energy to swoop in and lend a hand. 

I can understand why there are multiple quotes from Neil Gaiman about FINISHING THINGS because he has the energy for STARTING THINGS but not FINISHING THINGS. No wonder it's on his mind. He has spent a lifetime trying to figure out how to FINISH THINGS. I can relate. 

Anyway, take advantage while this energy for COMPLETION is in the air and pull out that dusty old project that you just can't quite seem to FINISH. Depending on how sensitive you are to transits, you just may have the boost you need right now to see it through.

The sun has now moved into Gate 51, SHOCK or AROUSING. In the I-Ching this hexagram is also called THE AROUSING.

This is the energy of the shaman who goes through a difficult trial to SHOCK themselves into a spiritual awakening. Because ultimately it is about attaining spiritual wisdom. 

Now if someone with this definition is not expressing any interest in spirit in their life, SHOCKING experiences may be a repeating theme until they forced into that spiritual awakening.

On the lighter side, many people with this energy defined like to be a little shocking. They enjoy it. This is also very competitive energy which can be experienced by others being competitive with them or being competitive themselves. 

Bette Davis was defined by the Sun in Gate 51 and she embodied the energy of SHOCKING people with her bold choices. Plus her competitive spirit was legendary. I find it impossible to not also mention that Joan Crawford was defined by Mercury in Gate 51 as well. Go Feud!        

So while this energy is transiting, you might enjoy getting into the competitive spirit and playing some board games with your family and friends. Go bowling. Have fun. People just might be inclined to play a practical joke or too as well.

But more importantly, consider taking this time to think about how you are addressing spirit in your life. Do you believe in a higher power? Do you meditate? Do you go to church? Do you think about how spirit is guiding your life and allow yourself to experience gratitude? Because frankly life has a way of making you address these questions if you are not.

Now I have a lot of logic and individuality in my chart and spiritual practice can be a bit challenging for me so I get it. But trusting in spirit is my lesson in this life. So I'll be thinking about how to implement more ways to connect with spirit during this time.

Transiting Friday, March 30 through Wednesday, April 4

The Sun has now traveled to Gate 21, THE TREASURER or MANAGEMENT/CONTROL. In I-Ching, this hexagram is called BITING THROUGH. 

This is the energy for controlling resources so that we have what we need when we need it. If not, if we waste what we have, we will perpetually struggle. 

CONTROL is really the theme here and for someone with this definition, this theme can play out as them being overly CONTROLLING of everything in their life or it can play out as them being CONTROLLED. The goal really is to find that balance in the middle and to understand the need for being in CONTROL can either come from a place of lack or a place of abundance. If it is coming from a place of lack, there can be a tendency to need to be in CONTROL to feel safe.

That said, this energy is not intended to be directed towards our loved ones. It is simply a wonderful skill that should be directed in a healthy way towards protecting resources, not people.

To be honest, this is an energy I am still trying to figure out for myself. Chiron was in Gate 21 at the time of my birth which means this particular energy is my wounded healer. It has manifested itself in almost comical ways during my life. But for me personally, I believe the lesson is letting go of control. Easier said than done but I'm working on it.

For others the lesson may very well be about taking their control back like Ms. Jackson.

As with anything, it is about balance. If this week is your birthday and CONTROL is defined by the Sun at the time of your birth, embrace this talent for what it is. Under the right circumstances you are the ultimate TREASURER, taking care of the resources for the good of the many. That is a beautiful, necessary thing. Thank goodness for it.

As for the rest of us, while this energy is transiting, take advantage and assess the health of your personal resources. Are you saving enough for retirement? If not, what practical steps can you take in the short term to put aside more for later? 

More importantly, think about the theme of CONTROL in your life. If someone in your life tends to be overly controlling, what is making them feel unsafe? Does anyone really truly have CONTROL over anything? Do you find yourself trying to CONTROL the outcome of things only to be perpetually disappointed? What can you do to step back and realize CONTROL is an illusion?   

In truth, we are not in the driver seat of this life (thanks Ra). We get to be the passenger. Enjoy the ride or try to CONTROL it. The choice is yours.

I for one am working on not being a back seat driver.

Transiting Sunday, March 25 through Thursday, March 29, 2018

The Sun now moves into Gate 17, OPINIONS. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called FOLLOWING. 

This is the energy for OPINIONS which are simply IDEAS are they not? You see, this energy is quick to form an OPINION about a matter and it can sometime be difficult to understand that this OPINION is meant to be fluid. Really, in the moment, it is simply an impression. But people with this energy defined can get themselves into trouble if they think, 'nope, this is my initial OPINION and I'm sticking with it!'

OPINIONS are fantastic but this is energy from the mind after all. There is no way to truly know if the OPINION is correct until we have had the opportunity to tap into our inner AUTHORITY which is never located in the mind.

Even so, an OPINION is just the beginning of the experiment. Altering the experiment to fit the OPINION misses the point entirely. 

And of course I really should mention one really should wait for right timing to share their OPINIONS. This is what we call projected energy in Human Design, which means wait for an invitation to share please. Otherwise, the person on the other end is hearing your OPINION whether they want to or not. You can see how there might be built in resistance to that scenario.

So while this energy is transiting, enjoy the mental gymnastics involved in forming an excellent OPINION. But recognize it for what it is, an exercise in thought. Also, take the time to think about how often you share your unsolicited OPINIONS. An exchange of IDEAS and OPINIONS is most enjoyable when the participants have invited one another to share.    

Everyone is entitled to an OPINION. As long as we understand it is just the beginning of the conversation. 

Transiting Monday, March 19 through Saturday, March 24, 2018.

The Sun now moves into Gate 25, LOVE OF SPIRIT, also known as ACCEPTANCE. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called INNOCENCE.

This is the energy of LOVE, plain and simple. When someone has this energy defined they are LOVE. This is not something that can be explained or taught. It just is and when you are in the presence of this aura, you feel love. There is also a life long lesson with this energy of letting go and ACCEPTING SPIRIT.

Maybe this is why this energy is so healing to others. People with this energy are natural healers and they quite literally heal others with LOVE.

It is so very difficult for people with this energy defined to witness cruelty. It is a shock to their INNOCENT nature and truly wounds them. But all they can do in response is embody LOVE. Others will either pick up on that energy or they won't. Which ties into the life long lesson of letting go and ACCEPTING that LOVE OF SPIRIT will prevail.

While this energy is transiting, think about how LOVING you are on a day to day basis. Do you approach strangers with the same LOVE in your heart you give to your LOVED ones? If not, why not? Do you in fact regularly approach your LOVED ones with LOVE in your heart? If not, what can you do to make this more of a habit? If we all made more of an effort to go about our daily lives with more LOVE in our heart, what could we accomplish as a collective?

My heart acknowledges the heart in you.

The Sun now moves into Gate 36, CRISIS, also known as ADVENTURE or EXPLORING. In the I-Ching, this hexagram is called THE DARKENING OF THE LIGHT. 

This is the energy for continually seeking new experiences, searching for that next ADVENTURE. The often lifelong lesson with this energy is to wait for clarity before jumping into that new experience however. If not, the situation can easily become that new CRISIS. 

It is so difficult to tell someone with this energy defined to wait though. Many are almost pathologically afraid of being bored. But with wisdom, often earned the hard way, someone with this energy defined will come to appreciate the importance of waiting for clarity. But oh the ADVENTURE they will have along the way! 

There is also a desire here for mastery which can be a tricky thing if one is constantly dropping this to try that. That resistance and avoidance of an inkling of boredom can get in the way. This is not to say that someone with this energy defined is not accomplished. Experience is hard earned and that counts for something.

So while this restless energy for ADVENTURE is in the air, go try something you've never had the guts to try before. Also, take some time to think about how willing you generally are to try new things. Do you resist the unknown? What can you do going forward to push yourself just a little bit out of your comfort zone?

The Sun has now moved into Gate 22, OPENNESS, or GRACE. In the I-Ching this hexagram is also called GRACE. 

This is an emotional, creative, sometimes dramatic energy that under the right circumstances embodies charm and GRACE. Depending on their mood, people with this energy defined can be the most charming and GRACEFUL person at a party or they can be the most DISGRACEFUL.

At its essence however, the purpose of this energy is to express the beauty from within and inspire others with its OPENNESS. This is the highest expression.

When I think of this energy, I think of Holly Golightly from Breakfast At Tiffany's. She is the most charming, enchanting, GRACEFUL, whirlwind of a character until she is not. But what a wonderful ride.

If you need to charm the pants off of someone, say you are trying to raise funds for a worthy cause for example, go find yourself someone with Gate 22 prominently located on their chart to do it for you. OR, if you happen to have this energy defined yourself you lucky duck, go ahead and charm away. Just please make sure you are in the mood.

Timing is everything and just like all Individual, Emotional energy there is a high point to this OPENNESS and GRACE, and a low point after all. Pay attention to your mood and politely decline that fabulous invitation if you don't feel up to being the life of the party. These things cannot be forced.

So depending on your mood and sensitivity to transits, you can choose to tap into this fabulous energy in either a GRACEFUL or DISGRACEFUL way. 

Have fun with it during this time but also think about how patient you are in general with yourself or others who are emotionally defined. If they are not in the mood, don't judge them, accept them. You really cannot expect them to bounce back and fake it. It is simply not correct or even possible. 

But when they are in the mood, prepare to enjoy the experience of getting your pants charmed off. 

Transiting Friday, March 2 through Wednesday, March 7, 2018

The Sun now moves into Gate 63, DOUBT, also known as QUESTIONING. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called AFTER COMPLETION.

This is another tricky energy. On the one hand it is the energy of the ultimate critical thinker. Logic dictates we QUESTION the validity of a concept until we can definitively prove it in a practical manner. This is a good thing. If ever we needed critical thinking, it is now. 

On the other hand there can be a tendency with this energy for people to get locked into a cycle of SELF DOUBT, which is not good. This gift of the Doubting Thomas is simply not meant to be directed at oneself or at one's loved ones. This energy is not intended to paralyze us with SELF DOUBT and it is for sure not intended for us to DOUBT the people we love. 

But if this energy is directed in a positive way, it is an imperative part of humanity. This is the energy for the scientific method. 

So while QUESTIONING is transiting, take this time to remind yourself what it means to be a critical thinker. What is the source? Where is the evidence? What exactly is the difference between something called fake news and an actual falsehood? What is news and what is propaganda? How can we know for sure? 

On the other hand, are you giving your friends and family the benefit of the DOUBT they deserve? How can you trust them more and QUESTION them less? Can you see how being perpetually DOUBTED by someone you love can degrade the trust in a relationship? 

Are you giving yourself the credit you deserve? How can you have more faith in your own abilities? What if you actually do know what you're doing? Have you thought of that?

It's simple really. QUESTION everything but have faith in you and yours.  

Transiting Saturday, February 24 through Thursday, March 1, 2018

The Sun has now moved into Gate 37, FRIENDSHIP, also known as HARMONY. In I-Ching, this hexagram is called THE FAMILY.

This energy is about keeping the peace or striving towards HARMONY. It is part of the Channel called THE BARGAIN, so there is also an element of BARGAINING FOR PEACE and HARMONY.

As someone with this energy defined I have a history of really doing everything I can to keep my relationships harmonious. Sometimes to my detriment in that expectations were set very high as a result. Meaning, an unspoken bargain was made, unbeknownst to me, where the people in my life expected me to perpetually drop everything and acquiesce to their needs. Add to that, this energy is defined by Mars in line 5 in my chart, meaning people unconsciously project their idealized idea of what FRIENDSHIP should be onto me and well, yeah. This is an area in which I got myself into loads a trouble in my youth. Much to my distress. Because believe me all I wanted was to keep things HARMONIOUS.

It is a lot of responsibility to live up to things that are not always clear to me. But what I now know is that I really have to be clear with my boundaries and communicate as best I can with the people I care about so that I'm clear about what they expect from me and what I expect from them. 

So while this energy is accessible to us all, take the time to gauge the health of your relationships. Are things HARMONIOUS? What can you do to bring more HARMONY and peace to your life? Are your expectations clear and do you know exactly what is expected of you? 

On a larger scale, what can we do as individuals to promote HARMONY in this tumultuous climate? How can we extend our hands in FRIENDSHIP to those with opposing views rather than push them away in judgment and distrust? All things to ponder with the energy of FRIENDSHIP and HARMONY in transit during this week.

Transiting Monday, February 19 through Friday, February 23, 2018

The sun has now moved into Gate 55 SPIRIT. In I-Ching this hexagram is called ABUNDANCE. This energy is about trusting that the universe will provide. 

A tricky pickle this. We are raised to believe we create our own wealth and abundance through hard work and determination. Trusting in SPIRIT however means letting go and allowing the abundance of the universe to provide what we need, when we need it.

Or not. As with all energy in the chart the keynote is a theme and in this case, ABUNDANCE is the theme whether it means totally lacking trust in SPIRIT and always scraping by OR trusting in SPIRIT to provide and appreciating the ABUNDANCE ever present in this life. This is the particular lesson someone with SPIRIT defined in their chart needs to learn. Because when they truly trust in SPIRIT, ABUNDANCE is magnetically drawn to them.

Easier said than done. SPIRIT you say? Many of us struggle with that concept alone. But no matter what you believe in, whether it be SPIRIT, GOD, the UNIVERSE, or CHAOS THEORY; for your own sanity you really must have faith that things will somehow work out for the best. Otherwise, why get up in the morning?

This Gate teaches us we will be rewarded for that faith.

So while this energy is transiting, use this opportunity to take stock of what you have and what you need and ask yourself, "am I trusting that things will work out? Or am I white knuckling my life, grasping at what I want, and feeling unlucky all the time?" Think about or meditate this week on the concept we really must give up the idea we have control and simply have faith in SPIRIT. What will happen if you just let go? What will happen if we recognize and appreciate what we already have?

Whatever emotions come up, allow that. This is Solar Plexus energy after all. Just please entertain the feeling that there really is plenty of ABUNDANCE to go around.

The Sun has now moved into GATE 30, DESIRE, also known as INTENSITY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called CLINGING FIRE. Sigh. 

The meaning is pretty self explanatory. People with this energy are very INTENSE and it INTENSIFIES really everything in their chart. This is emotional, creative, passionate energy at its heart so it is very important to wait for correct timing and clarity. Otherwise these INTENSE individuals can not only burn themselves out but also the people around them.

OK, I'm just going to take a moment to talk to you Gate 30 folks. I happen to love people who are INTENSE, passionate, and full of DESIRE. What amazing qualities! But without an awareness of right timing, the people around you might find the energy off putting and then you'll feel weird and they'll feel weird and well, aw jeeze. 

That said, this gate is part of the channel of FANTASY & DESIRE which is some pretty potent, sexy energy under the right circumstances. I have the Gate of FANTASY so I'm excited to have this channel activated as a theme during this transit.

Can we just take a moment to be amazed by the impeccable timing of the Human Design Mandala? Just in time for Valentine's Day week here in the United States, we have the energy at our fingertips to experience INTENSITY and DESIRE. How perfect is that for bringing sexy back?

Just try not to come on too strong too fast. Wait for correct timing. Read the signs. Then release that INTENSE DESIRE and you'll both have a grand time.

Transiting Thursday, February 8 through Monday, February 12

The Sun has now moved into the Gate 49, PRINCIPLES. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called REVOLUTION. This is the energy to determine the PRINCIPLES of intimacy and if those PRINCIPLES are crossed, the result will be a REVOLUTION.

Gate 49 is part of the Channel of LOVE & MARRIAGE and it is indeed wonderful energy for marriage if, and that is a big if, each partner holds up their end of the PRINCIPLES defined in the relationship.

Someone with this energy defined takes their vows very seriously. So seriously in fact if their partner fails to keep those vows, they will walk away from the relationship without a second thought. Hence the term REVOLUTION. This is why this gate is also lovingly called the DIVORCE gate. Keep in mind, often once the REVOLUTIONARY act has taken place, there is no turning back.

If you have this energy defined or if someone you love has this energy defined, it is imperative that the PRINCIPLES of the relationship are clearly defined and that both partners fully understand the terms. Do both parties understand the ramifications if these PRINCIPLES are not kept? 

I suppose it is healthy after this period of intimacy shared while the sun transited in Gate 19 and in Gate 13 that strong boundaries and PRINCIPLES are now determined for the relationship. Now is the time for determining the terms of what is acceptable and not acceptable in order to maintain the wonderful trust and intimacy that has been established.

At its heart, PRINCIPLES is emotional energy. So while it is transiting, please try not to make abrupt decisions. If someone disappoints you this week, ask yourself; did I make my expectations clear to this person? Did they knowingly betray what I have determined to be the PRINCIPLES of this relationship? Did they in fact have a hand in determining these PRINCIPLES?

Wait for clarity. Hold off on any decisions regarding your relationships until after this transit has passed or you may find yourself making an abrupt, emotional decision from which you cannot return.  

Rather, take this time to assess whether or not you have established clear PRINCIPLES for your relationships. What is acceptable behavior for you and what is not? Define your needs and make them crystal clear.

After all, no game is fair unless everyone knows the rules.

The sun has moved into Gate 13, THE LISTENER. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE FELLOWSHIP OF MAN. 

This is the energy for creating the space for other people's stories. At its best, this energy also intuitively provides the direction people need in the process. THE LISTENER doesn't have much choice in the matter really. People find themselves compelled to share their innermost thoughts with a person who has this energy defined.  

This reminds me of that commercial with Andy Cohen on the BRAVO network here in the United States. It is a comical ad for his late night talk show and it shows him going about his day in New York while strangers blurt out their innermost secrets to him at every turn. 

I have this energy defined in my chart and this is a phenomena that has happened to me all my life. I'm that person at a party who finds themselves in a corner with a new acquaintance, listening to their most private secrets. I've had strangers tell me about being abused by their boyfriends. I've had strangers confess their confusion about their sexual preferences to me. I'm that person sitting at a bar listening to the bartender's problems and giving them advice. In these moments I try to do my best to show compassion and to help talk them through their confusion or pain. It isn't something I seek out or request. It just seems to happen. 

If it is your birthday this week, you know what I'm talking about. This is the gift of THE LISTENER.

So during this time we may find ourselves confessing a secret to a stranger or finding ourselves on the receiving end of this treatment. Maybe it is a response to feeling so raw and sensitive in the days leading up to this energy. An intimacy has been created. But also just maybe our sensitivities about certain issues in our lives have come to the surface and we need to express this somehow. Sometimes talking these things out with a gentle stranger is the perfect anecdote.

Better yet, be brave and utilize this energy with your loved ones. Confess your sins, be open to hearing theirs. Be gentle. Have compassion. Now is not the time for judgement, it is the time for providing or receiving the direction that is intuitively at our fingertips. This is a holy exchange. Give it the respect and compassion it deserves.    

Just you know, make sure there aren't any recording devices in the room. 

Transiting Sunday, January 28 through Thursday, February 1, 2018.

The Sun has now moved into Gate 19, WANTING, also known as INTIMACY. In I-Ching, this hexagram is called APPROACH.

This energy is highly SENSITIVE on every level. SENSITIVE to touch, SENSITIVE to energy, and SENSITIVE to feelings. Most importantly, people with this energy defined are highly SENSITIVE to other people's needs. They can really dig deep and experience true INTIMACY with other people.   

My conscious moon is in this gate at the time of my birth and boy is this a driving theme in my life. They say someone with this energy defined even has SENSITIVE skin and in my case that is absolutely true. I cannot concentrate on anything else if there is a scratchy label on a piece of my clothing. Seriously, just call me the Princess and the Pea. I was also an extremely sensitive child that would be absolutely crushed by a stern word directed at me or anyone else.

Many people with this energy also have a great affinity for animals and find them very comforting. This is true for me.

But this aspect of being SENSITIVE to other people's needs really ruled my life for some time. This combined with the fact that I am an empath truly had me dominated by the needs of the people in my life. At the same time, I was so afraid of being hurt that I removed myself as much as possible from circumstances where I would be otherwise vulnerable.

With awareness however, I can now (at least try to) pin point what isn't mine and make the decision to engage or not. But I'm still SENSITIVE. I accept and appreciate this aspect of my personality as the gift that it is.

Am I still protective of my personal space and choosy about the circumstance that are acceptable for me and my energy? Absolutely. But now I understand why and appreciate this tendency for self care. In fact thanks to this self care, I can also now feel safe enough to be truly vulnerable in the right circumstance and with the right people who do not totally dominate my energy with their own desires and needs.

So during this time, take advantage of this opportunity for INTIMACY. What can you do to allow yourself to be sensitive to other people's needs as well as your own? Just keep in mind, if anyone you encounter seems over SENSITIVE, have compassion. They are experiencing a level of SENSITIVITY that may be a bit shocking and unusual. But when someone shows this kind of vulnerability what an opportunity for compassion and connection, no?
