The Top 2020 Democratic Candidates - A Human Design Perspective #DEMOCRATS

Democrats in the United States have a big decision to make in the coming months. Who to trust to campaign against our incumbent President in 2020. The stakes feel terribly high. Would the United States survive another 4 years of a Trump presidency? Would the planet?

The emotional climate of this country is currently set to a low frequency. All you have to do is look at our President’s Twitter account to see the tone. A lack of kindness is celebrated. It is considered refreshing and bold by a shockingly large percentage of our population. How do we get back to a place of striving for higher moral ground? Were we kidding ourselves that we had any higher moral ground in the first place? Did we ever as a country truly come from a place of kindness and decency? What was propaganda? What was real?

For better or worse the veil has been lifted. All is in the process of being revealed. The question is what is or is not acceptable? We are human after all. History shows that the most cruel behavior will be tolerated. We are certainly not special in that regard. Look at the way human beings are treated at the border right this minute. Human rights violations happen everywhere, all the time.

The truth is American citizens are not special. We are just like every other human on this planet. Each of us is capable of striving for a higher frequency, or not. Not striving for a higher frequency is certainly easier. Everyone is terrible so why should any one person be any different? But that is what it takes. One person at a time, taking personal responsibility to strive to be their highest self. This right here just may be exactly the shift that is happening in the world today. Individual responsibility. We are each facing a choice. Who do we want to be?

Does any one leader have the answer? Again, the veil is lifted and the answer is probably not. There is no human being that can pass the purity test. But each of us can certainly strive to choose someone who is at least attempting to reach a higher frequency. Someone who at least has the desire to help steer this overly large ship in a different, more positive direction. That is what voting is all about. Do we have any control over what is happening in Washington DC? Probably not. But each vote certainly sends a message. Who do we want to be as a country?

We are in the middle of an identity crisis and it truly can go either way. Every time we vote, we make a choice. We can go the everyone is terrible route or we can send one small message that a higher frequency is desired. This choice is ultimately a matter of self respect. Keep in mind, the less respect we have for ourselves the less inclined we will be to express our highest self.

When I look at the Human Design charts of the top four Democratic Presidential candidates I don’t see anyone who is perfect. But we now know no one is perfect don’t we? So where does that leave us? The Human Design chart utilizes the Chinese I-Ching, the Hindu Chakras, the Kabbalah Tree of Life, and quantum physics to interpret western and eastern astrology and illustrate exactly how we are defined as a person at the time of our birth. Now I don’t have a time of birth for all of the candidates so I will focus on what stays the same in their charts over the course of the day they were born.

Bernie Sanders -

Now with Bernie Sanders I see a chart that contains leadership qualities. I have a time of birth for him so I know he is what we call a 5/1 Profile. This is significant. Because the line 5 individual is highly charismatic and has the energetic effect of a potential guru. People will project their needs and wants onto him and see him as someone who can save them. Now this is actually a bit unfair to him. No one can actually live up to these projections. Not really. We’ve established that he, just like everyone else is human after all. But it explains why his supporters are so passionate about him.

He also has leadership in a prominent planetary position. Which means people will naturally turn to him for leadership. He comes from a generation that has democratic leadership ingrained in them as well. So this is a man with a leadership configuration that believes in a democracy.

He is a Projector type who subsists on sheer ego and will power. So that means with the right invitation, he is here to guide people. It also means energetically that he needs to delegate as much as possible. He will amplify the energy of the people around him and he won’t always know for himself when enough is enough. But he needs to schedule in rest. His staff needs to schedule in rest. I’m honestly not surprised he had a heart attack. Campaigning has to be a grueling schedule for a Projector type and he is pushing his will power to the limit. He is here to tell people what to do. Not do everything himself.

Bernie is an extremely competitive person who is inclined to behave in shocking ways and say shocking things. His is the chart of the shaman who must find spirituality through physical trials. So he is not afraid of difficulty. There is nothing he loves more than persuading someone who doesn’t agree with him to see things his way. He is not above rearranging the facts a little to accomplish this.

But his goals are pure. He is here on this planet to assist people to grow and improve their lives.

Elizabeth Warren -

Elizabeth Warren is quite literally a vessel of love. She has a deep love for humanity and she is driven by her dream of a more humane world. She is a Generator type who is quite capable of rolling up her sleeves and getting things done herself thank you very much with consistent energy and enthusiasm.

She is extremely talented and will approach each task with an almost clinical depth until she feels she is doing the very best she can. Hence her very thoughtfully written plan for almost every issue. She is someone who has no problem starting a task and then seeing it through until it is finished. This is in fact one of her gifts. She also comes from a generation who is built to support democratic leadership.

At heart however she is a humanitarian and whether she realizes it or not, would represent a return to a United States that is seen as a humanitarian force in this world.

Joe Biden -

Joe Biden is gifted at conveying concepts and he wants nothing more than to make a contribution to society. He is here to inspire people whether he is aware of it or not. He is a naturally talented and enthusiastic person who has this tendency to succeed where others fail and yet fail where most people succeed. He can get himself into trouble if he relies too much on his natural talent without putting in the depth of work required for expertise.

A Generator type, he has the consistent energy to get that work done however. He is also from that same generation that has Democratic Leadership ingrained. So yes, he fundamentally believes in a democracy. I have a time of birth for Joe so I also know he is a 4/6 profile which means he is someone who finds his opportunities through his connections with other people and is a natural role model whether he is aware of it or not. Others are continually, energetically influenced by his example.

Pete Buttegieg -

Mayor Pete is all about bringing law and order to the chaos. In his world laws are meant to provide the structure for fairness to this world. But he also needs to make sure that those laws still make sense for the current climate and time because he can be a bit of a traditionalist. This is a man who would always regard the constitution with the greatest respect. Despite his youth, he would represent a return to how things have been traditionally done in Washington. A return to dignity, integrity, respect, and honor.

He has very strong values that are a product of his experience. He is a gifted storyteller and has a talent for transmitting his message in an extremely effective way to sell his ideas. Pete Buttegieg is also a Generator Type so he is perfectly capable of rolling up his sleeves and getting things done for the country.

So there you have it, each of these candidates have unique qualities that would be very effective as President of the United States. Each would be in their own way a refreshing contrast to the current administration. The question is, what are the qualities that are important to you? What qualities do you want to be presented to the world as the representation of American values?

Energetically, Bernie Sanders has the best potential to get people excited about voting which is no small feat. People will tend to be more passionate about him and more intuitively see him as a leader. Of course his message of democratic socialism might also shock and scare part of the population. But if there was ever a time where people were open to a shocking point of view, it is now and he is uniquely capable of persuading the American public to see things his way. He is quite literally here on this earth to persuade people to see things his way.

If Warren shifts her message however to one that is a bit less cerebral and more heartfelt, more an expression of love, I feel people would respond to the energetic authenticity of that. Love would indeed be a salve to the current climate. Biden would do well to stick with inspirational messages that also portray him as a good role model for the country. Again, a good contrast to the current administration. Buttegieg could potentially strike a powerful chord if he focused on the lawlessness of the current administration and portrayed himself in contrast as a return to law, order, and integrity.

Long story short, we have a great choice to make. A multitude of riches in fact. Whichever message strikes the deepest chord for you should be your choice. Which highest expression do you want to represent the Unites States? But in the end I hope each of us can also fully support whichever candidate is on the ballot in November. We need to convince folks who are not democrats to vote for a democratic candidate. The very soul of this country depends on it.

We are better than this. I submit that everyone is not terrible. That we each have the potential to have terrible moments but we each also have the potential to raise our frequency to be the highest expression of ourselves. It certainly helps to surround yourself as much as possible with higher frequency folks but the responsibility ultimately lies within ourselves.

It starts with the individual. Strive to be a better version of yourself, and then support any and all movement towards a higher frequency world.

Note: I have excluded Amy Klobuchar because of where she currently stands in the polls. If that changes in the coming months I will update this article to include an analysis of her design.

ACCEPTANCE - The Sun in Gate 60 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved into Gate 60, ACCEPTANCE or RESOURCEFULNESS. In the I-Ching this energy is called LIMITATION.  

There is a bit of a mixed message with this energy. On one hand, it is coming from a place of holding on to old ways of doing things. On the other hand, this energy does want to innovate. It is indeed mutative. But only in a way that is respectful to the old ways and carries the wisdom of why the old ways work.

So this energy is ACCEPTING the LIMITS of the traditional foundation in a RESOURCEFUL manner that moves toward innovation. This is methodical innovation. In other words, don’t fix what isn’t broken; respectfully, methodically improve it.

People with this energy can be perceived as stuck in their ways and, without awareness, there can be a tendency to be a bit fixed about things. But this is the person who will be the voice of reason in the room when we enthusiastically want change for changes sake. They will hold the process back until they are sure the change is in fact necessary and is indeed an improvement.

Innovation is important, but one must be careful to first do no harm.

So what does this concept of ACCEPTANCE mean to you? Are you someone who hates change? Why? Do you strive for innovation in everything you do? Why not? How RESOURCEFUL are you when it comes to implementing change? Are you the type to throw everything out out the door and start completely over? Or are you able to ACCEPT the things that cannot change yet RESOURCEFULLY implement improvements? Does tradition make you feel safe? Does innovation make you feel unsafe? How can you make things better in your every day life without walking away from it entirely?

Innovation is great. Just try not to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

MYSTERY - The Sun in Gate 61 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved into Gate 61, MYSTERY, also known as WONDER. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called INNER TRUTH.

This is the energy for thinking about the great MYSTERIES of the universe. People who have this energy defined in their birth chart are often fascinated by the occult; generally anything unknowable. Located at the very top of the chart in the center where inspiration resides, the Gate of MYSTERY is seeking the answers to why we are here. Divine inspiration resides in the Head Center. One can certainly entertain themselves for hours with these kinds of thoughts but whether or not they lead to anything definitive is another thing altogether; it is really beside the point. 

If someone with this energy assumes they are supposed to solve these great MYSTERIES, they could inevitably feel a sense of dejection or failure. They might feel a wee bit of melancholy due to some of the subject matter sure, but also due to the loneliness involved with being fascinated by the great MYSTERIES of life when the people around them are not. It is certainly not easy to be considered odd or strange by others. As with all projected energy, it helps to wait for the invitation to talk about these subjects. 

There is a knowingness to this energy that cannot be simply explained. There is no proof. But that is the point. There is no need for proof. There is indeed WONDER in that.

What does MYSTERY mean to you? Do you love the unknowable? Does the unknowable make you uncomfortable? Why? Do you prefer concrete subjects? Is that bad? Do the MYSTERIES of the universe fascinate you? Is that good? Do you believe in ghosts? Do you believe in subjects that are impossible to prove? What about God?

If you are not one of the lucky souls who have this compelling connection to all things MYSTERIOUS defined, now is the time to ponder what the universe has in store for us. Allow yourself to get lost in thought. Is there indeed a divine order to things? If so, what is the purpose of the current state of the world? What part, if any must we take in this narrative to help humanity?

DRIVE - The Sun in Gate 54 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now entered Gate 54, DRIVE or AMBITION. In I-Ching, this hexagram is called THE MARRYING MAIDEN.

People with AMBITION defined have a very potent part of the EGO Circuit in Human Design. This is the energy for doing whatever it takes to get ahead. It also has within it the aspiration to ascend to a singular vision. The MARRYING MAIDEN is known for MARRYING up, the archetypal gold digger.

What we should understand about the TRIBAL/EGO Circuit in Human Design however is that these energies stem from a need to provide for our TRIBE. So AMBITION is about getting ahead to provide for ourselves so that we can be a resource for our loved ones.

Gate 54 is also pulse energy from the root so we may find ourselves experiencing a surge of AMBITION or we may find ourselves experiencing no DRIVE at all. So obviously the time to act on our AMBITION is when that pulse energy is activated. This is also about right timing.

Is DRIVE good? Is AMBITION bad? Why? Do you admire AMBITION in others? Do you judge people who seem overly AMBITIOUS? Why? Do you admire AMBITION in yourself? Why not? What does the term gold digger mean to you? Is it OK to be AMBITIOUS for you and yours? Why not?     

How magical is it that we have access to DRIVE and AMBITION right at the beginning of the new year?

What if you allowed yourself to really meditate on naked AMBITION for you and your family during the next 5 days? What would you discover? Better yet, what would you energetically draw to yourself if given the opportunity? 

Allow yourself to create an AMBITIOUS vision for this new year.

THE FIGHTER - The Sun in Gate 38 - #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

The Sun has now moved to Gate 38, THE FIGHTER. In the I-Ching this Hexagram is called OPPOSITION. 

In its highest expression, this is the energy to FIGHT for what is right. But of course it could also just be the energy to FIGHT. Many with this energy have trouble valuing something in their life if they have not fought tooth and nail for it. They are energized by the FIGHT.

What an interesting gift. What would we do without those individuals who love a good FIGHT?

Are you someone who is energized for the FIGHT? Why not? What is worth FIGHTING for? Are you prepared to FIGHT for your loved ones? Are you prepared to FIGHT for yourself? Why not? Does the thought of a FIGHT exhaust you? Does the thought of a FIGHT scare you? Does a FIGHT have to be considered a negative thing? When is the right time to put up a FIGHT? When is it wrong to FIGHT? How can we tell the difference?

So FIGHT for that last bit of energy to celebrate the New Year. Better yet, seize this opportunity to FIGHT for what is right for you and while you're at it, observe how the world doesn't collapse when you FIGHT for what you need. Maybe, just maybe, this will give you the experience and confidence to do a little more FIGHTING for yourself during the rest of the new year.  

Some things are worth the FIGHT.  

JOY - The Sun in Gate 58 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved to Gate 58, JOY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is also called JOY.

Here’s the thing. People either choose JOY or they do not and it is no different for those that have JOY defined in their charts. JOY is the theme either way. There is either JOY or lack of JOY.

Are you someone who finds the JOY in each situation? How? Is the lack of JOY in your life situational or a choice? Do you focus on what’s JOYFUL or what’s lacking? Why? When things are imperfect is it possible to figure out what’s right? Why not?

When things are good do you allow yourself the space to feel JOY?

It's the Holidays for many of us. We are hopefully with our loved ones. As such we can either focus on imperfections, such as a ruined pie or an unpleasant political discussion, or we can bask in the true JOY of being in the presence of the people we love; warts and all. Shall we decide to feel JOY then? What do you say?

SELF LOVE - The Sun in Gate 10 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved into Gate 10, LOVE OF SELF or in I Ching, TREADING.

Located in the place where love resides on the chart, this energy is the LOVE of YOURSELF.

In our culture here in the United States, this can be a loaded concept. You can LOVE YOURSELF but you can't be full of yourself. "Don't get a big head," is a notion drummed into many of us at an early age.

This Gate of LOVE OF SELF is often called the BUDDHA gate. It is the embodiment of self empowerment in its best iteration. So much so, people around this energy will feel more empowered for having been in the presence of it. The highest expression of SELF LOVE is showing people, by example, how to love themselves. Isn't that marvelous?

Interesting side note. I have observed that many of my friends with this energy defined in their chart LOVE to take selfies and post them on social media. It’s wonderful to see their innate confidence and willingness to share themselves with the world. Little do they know that this embodiment of SELF LOVE is having a truly empowering affect on their audience.

The low expression of LOVE OF SELF however is playing the victim and blaming others for one’s own failings. Because anything that goes wrong could not possibly be their own fault. Another expression of SELF LOVE. This is why Gate 10 can also be lovingly referred to as the blame gate.  If you find yourself doing this, stop and ask yourself, "does this person really deserve the blame here? Am I taking responsibility for what is mine?"  

Are you never in the wrong? How? Are you someone who puts themselves first always? Do you never put yourself first? Why? Do you take care of yourself? Do you treat YOURSELF with LOVE and respect? Do you give YOURSELF the same benefit of a doubt, LOVE, and compassion you give to others? Why not?   

As for those of us who celebrate Christmas, this is an interesting week for this energy to be transiting. Hopefully by now we have finished our Holiday shopping and can shift our attention to taking better care of ourselves while spending quality time with our loved ones. As much as we are raised to be selfless this week, the universe is reminding us to put ourselves first; to put the oxygen mask on first.

To first, LOVE YOURSELF.

IDEAS - The Sun in Gate 11 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved to Gate 11, IDEAS. In I-Ching this hexagram is called PEACE.

So yes, this is the energy for having wonderful, brilliant, and occasionally not so fantastic IDEAS.

What is interesting about this energy however is these IDEAS are most likely not for ourselves. There is no configuration here for making these IDEAS happen. Many people with this energy defined often feel like their IDEAS are stolen by other people. This can cause feelings of betrayal and bitterness but what they are failing to realize is this is exactly how the energy of IDEAS is supposed to work. 

So much of the Human Design chart reveals how we need each other to accomplish things in this world. With this particular energy we are meant to have an IDEA and if someone else with the right configuration responds to that idea, they are meant to act on it.

So if you have this energy defined in your chart, you may have some truly spectacular IDEAS. If you want those IDEAS to go anywhere, tell your IDEAS to anyone who is open to hearing about them. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to pass the IDEA along. Be at PEACE with that.  

Are you someone who is full of scathingly brilliant IDEAS? Do these IDEAS ever pan out? Why? When someone comes to you with their IDEAS are you open to hearing about them? Why not? Do you feel like people steal your IDEAS? Is that truly the reality of the situation? Are all IDEAS created equal?

In a way, sharing your IDEAS with the right people is like casting a spell. What happens next is out of your hands.  

THE TRICKSTER -The Sun in Gate 26 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The sun has now moved to Gate 26, THE TRICKSTER, or ACCUMULATION. In I-Ching this hexagram is called THE TAMING POWER OF THE GREAT. 

This is the energy to close the sale; the impetus to say anything, do anything to finalize the deal.

OK I'm just going to go ahead and say it. THE TRICKSTER gets a bad rap, because it can be associated with lying and deception. This is the low expression of this energy of course. Our own president here in the United States has the moon in Gate 26 at the time of his birth. He is driven to close the sale, so to speak.  

On the other hand, some folks with this energy are absolute champions of the truth. They intuitively know if they allow themselves to tell a white lie here or there, their grasp on the truth very well may be tenuous. So they can be brutally honest and downright appalled by dishonesty.

There's a happy medium here. This energy is placed in our chart for us to examine our own relationship with the truth. To master THE TRICKSTER, we must master integrity. How do we get what we need in this life without compromising our integrity?

THE TRICKSTER is tribal energy after all, so this energy actually comes from a place of providing for our loved ones. The motivation is pure. With that in mind, it's easy to rationalize a white lie here or there in order to feed our loved ones. But it is our responsibility to maintain our integrity while still providing for our loved ones. 

What is your relationship to the truth? Do you say what you need to say to get what you need? Is that OK? Why not? Do you tell white lies to avoid getting in trouble? Or are you someone who refuses to bend the truth under any circumstance? Is that OK? What does integrity mean to you? Is this something you need to work on or is the work done? Do the ends justify the means?

PATTERNS - The Sun in Gate 5 - #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

The Sun has moved to Gate 5, PATTERNS. In the I-Ching this Hexagram is called WAITING.

This energy is all about the rhythm of nature and the rhythm of our lives. It is the comfort of ritual; knowing that at certain times of the day, week, or year, certain things will happen and when this is so, all is right with the world.

The other side of this coin is being terribly thrown off if our coffee is not made exactly the same way, at the right time of our morning, and in the right spot. People with this energy defined simply need a consistent PATTERN to our daily life or we will feel off kilter and unsettled. Others, say someone with Gate 15 for example, may perceive this as strange. Worse, those of us with the energy may judge ourselves too harshly for the difficulty we experience in bouncing back from a disruption in our PATTERN. Some people with this energy dislike this tendency so much they refuse to maintain any PATTERN in their life at all. Can you see how either way PATTERNS is the theme?

The next time you are feeling anxious and unsettled and you don't understand why ask yourself, is my day or week off schedule? Maybe the simple answer is you need to correct course to the PATTERNS that comfort you. If returning to your routine is not an option, take a deep breath and create a new PATTERN for your current circumstance. For example, if I were out of town I might find it soothing during my trip to go to the same spot every morning to read the paper.    

Creating little rituals that we stick with every day or every week just may be the ultimate act of self care.

Animals are this way naturally, they need their schedule, and those of us with this energy relate very well to the rhythm of our animals. We get it. The rhythm of nature feels right.

Do you need a consistent routine to feel normal? Is that good? Is it bad? Or does doing the same thing day in day out make you feel suffocated? Why? What daily ritual can you start today to honor your desire for PATTERNS? What can you do to shake things up? What rituals can you employ to honor your family and friends? Does it bother you that your partner wants to do the same thing every night? Is it possible to honor that while implementing a PATTERN that has change baked in? Possibly date night every third Friday of the month where you try something different together?

I invite you to get cozy with your schedule this week. Witness how PATTERNS are an opportunity for comfort. Be present for the ritual of it. It is something concrete to hold on to during these strange times and also quite apropos during the Holiday Season.

FOCUS - The Sun in Gate 9 - #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

The sun has now moved to Gate 9, FOCUS. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE TAMING POWER OF THE SMALL.

So this is the energy to FOCUS.

It is the power to concentrate but without its counterpart gate 52, STILLNESS, it is not necessarily the power to concentrate for long periods of time. Even so, most people with this energy tend to think about their current FOCUS while they're doing other things anyway. I call this energy for thinking about something and not being able to let it go snagging and looping.

If you let it, this snag and loop can turn into obsessive thinking. Bach Flower Remedies, most specifically Rescue Sleep is very helpful for some in battling obsessive thoughts. It doesn't sedate you, it simply helps stop the overthinking that keeps you up at night. If I had the gate of FOCUS and found myself fixating on a certain thought, I wouldn't hesitate to use it during the day.

That said, there is something wonderful about being able to FOCUS on something without distraction. In its highest frequency, the energy of FOCUS is a gift.

What is it in your life that needs your FOCUS right now? What are you FOCUSING on instead? Is it productive or a distraction? Why? Does it drive you crazy when someone is so FOCUSED they cannot hear you talking to them? Is that their fault? Do you ever struggle with obsessive thinking? What can you do to help quiet your mind?

People with this energy may find meditating extremely easy due to their master powers of FOCUS or extremely difficult because they are too FOCUSED on other things. Either way, it couldn’t hurt to try practicing stillness.

POWER - The Sun in Gate 34 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved to Gate 34, POWER. In I-Ching this is called POWER OF THE GREAT.

This represents a POWERFUL surge of energy in response.  

People with this energy defined in their chart are busy, multi-tasking, POWER houses of energy who need to do more than one thing at a time regardless of what society tells them. Meaning it is not unusual for someone with this energy defined to have multiple jobs. They are told over and over to focus on one thing to be successful which may make them second guess their tendencies. But deep down they know they are actually more successful and definitely more energized when they have more than one job title.

Of course strategy is an important piece of this puzzle. The compulsion to take on more and more in order to stay busy may result in someone with this energy burning their excess POWER out on tasks that do not energize them. This is energy, or POWER, in response to the right tasks.

All bets are off when the POWER has been burned out. Which can often be the case if someone has lived a lifetime of pushing their POWER instead of waiting to respond with their POWER. The not self theme of Gate 34 is POWERLESSNESS. Gate 34 is an integral part of the incarnation cross of the SLEEPING PHOENIX after all.

Consider this, if you are burned out the universe will actually withhold opportunities from you out of concern for your well being.

Are you overwhelmed by your busy schedule? When you get home do you want do something fun and creative or do you just want sit on the couch, watch mindless television, and go to sleep? How can you be more selective about about the things you take on in your life? Are they in fact your responsibility? How can you be sure about adding that next big project to everything else you are juggling? How can you simplify your schedule so that you only direct your energy towards things that give you energy? What can you do right now to start taking care of yourself well enough so that the right opportunities are once again energetically drawn to you; so that you can even recognize what feels right?

Do you feel POWERLESS? Why? Does that sense of POWERLESSNESS result in you giving up on the things that are important to you? Why? Do you feel perpetually bullied? Why? What can you do today to feel more solid and POWERFUL in this world? Do you feel POWERFUL? How does your POWERFUL presence affect the people around you? Do they push back or seem overwhelmed? Are you paying attention to the affect you have on others? Is this your problem? Are you pushing to prove your POWER to others?

POWER in response is the opposite of OVERPOWERING. POWER in response is a welcome and necessary thing in this world. Right now, more than ever we need the SLEEPING PHOENIX to wake up and claim their POWER.

The Sun has now moved to Gate 14, POWER SKILLS or PROSPERITY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called POSSESSION IN GREAT MEASURE.

This is the energy for utilizing your skills to work for the abundance you need in life. This is not blind faith that money will be drawn to you energetically. That is in other parts of the chart. This particular energy is the SKILL and capacity to do what you need to do to be comfortable. To be clear though, it works best in response to the opportunity to work. 

Whenever I see this defined in someone's chart I know they are probably doing OK financially. They typically, consistently have the capacity to work for money in their life. This energy comes directly from the center of workforce energy after all. 

Gate 14 is a wonderful blessing, but it can sometimes result in someone being financially successful at a J-O-B they do not particularly like. There lies the rub. What is important to note however is they would most likely do OK financially in whatever line of work they chose. But if they enter into opportunities correctly, with the right Strategy and Authority according to Type they will most likely feel more fulfilled by their work.   

Are you someone who generally figures out a way to get your hands on the money you need to pay your bills? Or are you someone who struggles to keep the lights on every month? Why? Do you sometimes wonder if you could find a more fulfilling way to make money? What would that look like? Are you someone who insists on being fulfilled whether the lights are on or not? The Sun has now moved to Gate 43, INSIGHT. In the I-Ching, this hexagram is called BREAKTHROUGH.

INSIGHT is about working things out in one’s head to see things in new, INSIGHTFUL ways.

Human Design teaches us that having a brilliant thought in your head and acting on it rarely turns out well. But sharing and discussing that special INSIGHT when the timing is correct may allow others to respond to the INSIGHT and act on it in an energetically sublime way. 

Be careful though, expressing these INSIGHTS hinge entirely on correct timing. This is part of the channel lovingly referred to as Genius to Freak which actually helps illustrate the importance of timing. Blabbing your INSIGHTS without invitation will often result in resistance in other people. As with all projected energy, if you wait for an invitation your INSIGHT may be received by others as a stroke of genius! Simply asking, "I may have some INSIGHT to share, would you like to hear about it," will change the dynamic of the conversation entirely.

The gate of INSIGHT is understandably one of the ALONE gates. It contains the energy to be lost in our own thoughts. Time alone is essential because you need to concentrate to make that BREAKTHROUGH. But let's face it, people who are in their head are not the greatest listeners.

Are you someone who tends to have your head in the clouds? Do the people in your life complain about you not listening to them? Do you find yourself seeking time alone to work out your thoughts? Does it drive you crazy when you feel alone with someone who is lost in their head? When that person who is lost in their head turns to you and says something outlandish do you consider what is surely a gem of INSIGHT contained within it? Would you consider allowing this person time alone with their thoughts to work things out more clearly? Is it possible to not take that personally?

Rejection is hard for anyone. INSIGHT and BREAKTHROUGH are fragile things that can be shot down rather easily. Be patient and kind to yourself and to others in our pursuit of the BREAKTHROUGH.

SELF EXPRESSION - The Sun in Gate 1 - #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

The Sun has now moved to Gate 1, SELF-EXPRESSION. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE CREATIVE.

The need for SELF-EXPRESSION is no joke. The people I know who have this energy defined are truly at a loss when they are not EXPRESSING themselves. When I say at a loss, I mean they feel heavy, burdened, and sad. For many, this need for SELF-EXPRESSION can specifically mean a CREATIVE CONTRIBUTION. Not surprising really since the other half of this channel is just that, the energy for making a CONTRIBUTION to this world.

But seriously, if you have the Gate of SELF-EXPRESSION defined, especially by the Sun you must strive to always have a satisfying outlet for CREATIVE SELF-EXPRESSION. If this element is missing from your life it can weigh heavily on your soul.

To be clear, this doesn’t have to be your J-O-B. It certainly doesn’t need to be your identity. According to science, hobbies make you happy, especially if they provide that oh so necessary creative outlet.

How important is SELF-EXPRESSION to you? Do you see how important it is to the people around you? Do you regularly EXPRESS yourself in CREATIVE ways? Why not? When was the last time you EXPRESSED your soul to the world? Does that question tug at your heart or turn you off entirely? Do your children have a creative outlet? If so, do you see how it benefits them? Why wouldn’t it benefit you if you had something similar in your life? When was the last time you drew a picture, invented a strikingly beautiful and delicious recipe, danced, told a story, decorated your house, or wrote a song?

How do you EXPRESS yourself?

The sun has now moved to Gate 44, PRESENTATION. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called COMING TO MEET.

This is the energy for PRESENTING the lessons we have learned from the past. To PRESENT the case for why repeating the past would be best or why we must avoid the mistakes of the past. This is energy from the spleen which can also feel like downright fear of the past or even an obsession with the past. In reaction to this fear, there could be a tendency to gloss over the past and make it seem overly idealistic. Or not.

This idealistic bent is also expressed by making things nice. Appearances are very important to people with this energy. The expression of this energy is often the host with the most. They desire to make things beautiful, comfortable, and pleasant for themselves and others. They will often have an intuitive, very tasteful eye for design. For them a beautiful home that looks nice and smells nice is necessary to feel good.

Speaking of smell, the intuition expressed by this energy is stimulated by smell. Folks with this energy can literally smell when something is off. The expression “I smell a rat,” is apt for the energy of PRESENTATION.

PRESENTATION is also part of the energy for closing the deal with its partner Gate 26, THE TRICKSTER. It is COMING TO MEET a client. The energy to make a client feel welcome and pampered so that Gate 26 can swoop in and close the deal. PRESENTATION embodies the wining and dining part of the deal.

What can the past teach us right now? Can we look to the past to know what works and doesn’t work? Were the good old days in fact good? What did we do right back then and what did we do wrong? Do you tend to gloss things over in your memory? Or do you refuse to remember or face the past? Do you paint a darker picture of the past? Is it possible to accurately recall the past without bias?

Is the appearance of things important to you? Do you try to make things appear better than they are? Why? Do you go out of your way to make guests feel comfortable and impressed with your home? Is that good? Is that bad? Is your home a reflection of your inner psyche for better or for worse? What comes first, a well ordered home or a well ordered psyche? Is it possible one can facilitate the other?

Is there such a thing as faking it until you make it when it comes to PRESENTING our best self?

The sun has now moved to Gate 28, STRUGGLE or TENACITY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called PREPONDERANCE OF THE GREAT.

Life can seem like a STRUGGLE for the person who has Gate 28 defined. They can really feel put upon by the universe. But people with this energy are sometimes not aware they actually thrive on the STRUGGLE. Things don’t seem worth it unless they are difficult. Otherwise, what is the point?

A task will seem meaningless to someone with STRUGGLE defined in their chart if it is too easy and that really is the point. This energy is about the search for meaning. Because there is a very potent fear here that life has no meaning. Difficulty and STRUGGLE make life important and worth living.

These are the people who choose extremely difficult, complicated work. Is that not a blessing to society?

Of course if this energy for STRUGGLE is not directed in a productive way it can unfortunately be directed at their interpersonal relationships. Personal drama can be an outlet for this energy. That said, a person who is willing and able to work through difficulty in a relationship is a wonderful partner indeed.

The people who seek out what is difficult, who aren’t afraid of STRUGGLE make all of our lives worth living.

VALUES - The Sun in Gate 50 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved into Gate 50, VALUES. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE CAULDRON.

This is very potent, highly influential energy for transmitting and protecting the VALUES of the tribe. Think Mama Bear or the ultimate matriarchal Grandma. People without even thinking twice fall into line when they are in this energy’s aura.

It is also the compulsion to take care of the people in your life, a very nourishing energy in fact. For example, it is not unusual for someone with the energy of VALUES to be a wonderful cook. Because they feel compelled to nourish their loved ones.

Of course the danger here could be putting other people’s needs ahead of your own in an unhealthy, codependent way. And as with all energies connected to the spleen there is fear here as well. The fear of not meeting your responsibilities, not doing enough, not taking care of the people in your life enough.

How do VALUES play a role in your life? Do you take care of others to a fault? Where do you rank yourself as far as your priorities go? Are you first in line or last? Why? Do you generally feel like you are never doing enough; never taking care of enough? Is this in light of other people’s expectations or your own? What if you didn’t make dinner tonight? Would the family survive? How does self care play out in your life? Is it possible to be equally nurturing to yourself? Why not? Is there is someone in your life that consistently takes care of you? What have you done lately to take care of them?

CONTINUITY - The Sun in Gate 32 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The sun has now moved into Gate 32, CONTINUITY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called DURATION.

This is the energy for big dreams. Someone who has this energy defined by the sun may be that person who is always talking about their new exciting business plan which unfortunately never seems to materialize. Don’t judge them. It’s not their fault. Because this is the energy to intuitively know what business ideas will work without any of the energy to physically make it happen. In truth this gift is for others. Think venture capitalist rather than founder and CEO.

This is intuitive energy, not workforce energy. No matter how certain they are that an idea is meant to be successful (and they are certain) they don’t have the design to make it happen. Continuously trying to be something they are not will lead to frustration and a crushing fear of failure. Which could lead to paralysis.

Do you have a natural instinct for business? What does that mean to you? Is it OK that not everyone has the energy for business? Why? When you know a business idea is fantastic and it doesn’t pan out is that bad? What does failure mean to you? Are you afraid to do things because there is a chance you might fail? Do you see failure as an opportunity for wisdom? Why not? What is the worst thing that can happen if an endeavor fails to launch? What does it say about you?

The energy of CONTINUITY is a beautiful example of how we are put on this earth to work with each other. That we are all pieces of the puzzle is one of my favorite revelations of Human Design. Someone who has the workforce energy to start and sustain a business might not have any sense at all of what business ideas will work.

Put these two energies together with the opportunities for invitation and response to work their magic and watch dreams come true.
