FOCUS - The Sun in Gate 9 - #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

From Wednesday, November 28 through Monday, December 3 the sun will be in Gate 9, FOCUS. The hexagram in I-Ching is called THE TAMING POWER OF THE SMALL.

So just like the name, this is the energy of FOCUS. It is the power to concentrate but without its counterpart gate 52, STILLNESS, it is not necessarily the power to concentrate for long periods of time. Even so, most people with this energy tend to think about something while they're doing other things anyway because they simply can't stop thinking about it. I call this energy for thinking about something and not being able to let it go the snag and loop.

If you let it, this snag and loop can turn into obsessive thinking. One thing I find helpful with ye olde snag and loop is Bach Flower Remedies, most specifically Rescue Sleep. It doesn't sedate you, it simply helps stop the obsessive thinking that keeps you up at night. If I had the gate of FOCUS, I wouldn't hesitate to use it during the day.

That said, there is something wonderful about being able to FOCUS on something without distraction. If you generally have issues with FOCUS, I invite you to use this opportunity to think about this theme in your life. What is it in your life that needs your FOCUS right now? What are you FOCUSING on instead? Is it productive or a distraction? Why? Does it drive you crazy when someone is so FOCUSED they cannot hear you talking to them? Is that their fault? Do you ever struggle with obsessive thinking? What can you do to help quiet your mind?

People with this energy may find meditating extremely easy due to their master powers of FOCUS or extremely difficult because they are too FOCUSED on other things. Either way, it couldn’t hurt to try.

POWER - The Sun in Gate 34 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

From Thursday, November 22 through Tuesday, November 27, 2018 the Sun has moved into Gate 34, POWER. In I-Ching this is called POWER OF THE GREAT. This is a remarkable energy of power in response. Once you set it off, watch it go! 

People with this energy defined in their chart are fast, busy, multi-tasking power houses of energy. IF they're not burned out which can often be the case if they have lived a lifetime of pushing instead of waiting to respond with this energy. The not self theme of Gate 34 is POWERLESSNESS.

Burn out aside, it is important to understand that these folks need to do more than one thing at a time regardless of what society tells them. Having to focus on one thing all the time is pretty much straight up torture. Don't make them! They need to be busy and to have variety in their life.

True confession, I have this Gate defined by the Sun in my natal chart, so you're basically hearing a cry for help.    

So while we have the opportunity to reflect on the theme of POWER this week, how does it play out in your life? Do you feel POWERFUL? How does your POWERFUL presence affect the people around you? Do they push back or do they feel overwhelmed? Are you paying attention to the affect you have on others? Is this your problem?

Do you feel POWERLESS? Why? Does that sense of POWERLESSNESS result in you giving up on the things that are important to you? Why? Do you feel perpetually bullied? Why? What can you do today to feel more solid and POWERFUL in this world?

Are you overwhelmed by your busy schedule? A loaded question I realize during the Holidays. How can you be more selective about about the things you take on in your life? Are they in fact your responsibility? How can you be sure about adding that next big project to everything else you are juggling? Better yet, how can you simplify your schedule so that you only direct your energy towards things that give you energy?

Think about that. When something truly feels right, it will actually give you energy rather than take energy away. Have you experienced this?

All bets are off however if you are burned out. Nothing gives you energy in that case, no matter how correct. Consider this, if you are burned out the universe will actually withhold opportunities from you out of concern for your well being.

What can you do right now to start taking care of yourself well enough so that the right opportunities are once again energetically drawn to you; so that you can recognize what feels right?

POWER SKILLS - The Sun in Gate 14 - #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

Between Saturday November 17 through Wednesday, November 21, 2018 the Sun is in Gate 14, POWER SKILLS or PROSPERITY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called POSSESSION IN GREAT MEASURE.

This is the energy for utilizing your skills to work for the abundance you need in life. This is not blind faith that money will be drawn to you energetically. That is in other parts of the chart. This particular energy is the SKILL and capacity to do what you need to do to be comfortable. To be clear though, it works best in response to the opportunity to work. 

Whenever I see this defined in someone's chart I know they are probably doing OK financially. They typically, consistently have the capacity to work for money in their life. This energy comes directly from the center of workforce energy after all. 

Gate 14 is a wonderful blessing, but it can sometimes result in someone being financially successful at a J-O-B they do not particularly like. There lies the rub. What is important to note however is that they would most likely do OK financially in whatever line of work they chose. But if they entered into opportunities correctly, with the right Strategy and Authority according to Type they would most likely feel more fulfilled by their work.   

But what does this mean for those of us who do not have this energy defined? I wish I could say the Sun in Gate 14 means money will drop from the sky but I can't. Sorry guys! But it certainly is the opportunity to meditate on this energy for working for what you need when you need it. 

Are you someone who generally figures out a way to get your hands on the money you need to pay your bills? Or are you someone who struggles to keep the lights on every month? Why? Do you sometimes wonder if you could find something more fulfilling to pay the bills? What would that look like? Are you someone who insists on being fulfilled whether the lights are on or not? Take the time this week to observe and explore how the people in your life handle these nuances related to POWER SKILLS. How do they take care of business?

INSIGHT - The Sun in Gate 43 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

From Sunday, November 11 to Friday, November 16. 2018 the Sun has moved into Gate 43, INSIGHT. In the I-Ching, this hexagram is called BREAKTHROUGH.

So the theme for this week will be about working things out in your head to see things in new, INSIGHTFUL ways.

Be careful though, expressing these INSIGHTS hinge entirely on correct timing. This is part of the channel lovingly referred to as Genius to Freak which actually helps illustrate the importance of timing. Blabbing your insights without invitation often results in resistance in other people. To be frank, it often comes off as you telling them something about something [insert eye roll here]. Wait for an invitation however and your INSIGHT may be received by others as a stroke of genius! Simply asking, "I may have some INSIGHT to share, would you like to hear about it," will change the dynamic of the conversation entirely.

Human Design teaches us that having a brilliant thought in your head and acting on it rarely turns out well. But sharing and discussing that special INSIGHT when the timing is correct may allow others to respond to the idea and act on it in an energetically sublime way. 

The gate of INSIGHT is understandably one of the ALONE gates. It contains the energy to be lost in our own thoughts. Time alone is essential because you need to concentrate to make that BREAKTHROUGH. Also, let's face it, people who are in their head are not the greatest listeners.

So while this energy is transiting I invite you to think about how the theme of INSIGHT touches your life. Are you someone who continually has your head in the clouds? Do the people in your life complain about you not listening to them? Do you find yourself seeking time alone to work out your thoughts? Or are you someone on the other end of this energy? Does it drive you crazy when you feel alone with someone who is lost in their head? When that person who is lost in their head turns to you and says something outlandish do you consider what is surely a gem of INSIGHT contained within it? If not would you consider allowing this person time alone with their thoughts to work things out more clearly? Is it possible to not take that personally?

Rejection is hard for anyone. INSIGHT and BREAKTHROUGH are fragile things that can be shot down rather easily. Be patient and kind to yourself and to others in our pursuit of the BREAKTHROUGH.

SELF EXPRESSION - The Sun in Gate 1 - #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

From Tuesday, November 6 through November 10, 2018, the Sun will have moved into Gate 1, SELF-EXPRESSION. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE CREATIVE.

The need for SELF-EXPRESSION is no joke. The people I know who have this energy defined are truly at a loss when they are not EXPRESSING themselves. When I say at a loss, I mean they feel heavy, burdened, and sad. For many, this need for SELF-EXPRESSION can specifically mean a CREATIVE CONTRIBUTION. Not surprising really since the other half of this channel is just that, the energy for making a CONTRIBUTION to this world.

But seriously, if you have the Gate of SELF-EXPRESSION defined, especially by the Sun (oh hey, happy birthday), you must strive to always have a satisfying outlet for CREATIVE SELF-EXPRESSION. If this element is missing from your life it can create a heavy weight on your soul.

To be clear, this doesn’t have to be your J-O-B or your identity. According to science, hobbies make you happy, especially if they provide that oh so necessary creative outlet.

So whether Gate 1 is defined in your chart or not, I invite you to think about CREATIVE SELF-EXPRESSION this week. Just how important is SELF-EXPRESSION to you? Do you see how important it is to the people around you? Do you regularly EXPRESS yourself in CREATIVE ways? Why not? When was the last time you EXPRESSED your soul to the world? Does that question tug at your heart or turn you off entirely? Do your children have a creative outlet? If so, do you see how it benefits them? Why wouldn’t it benefit you if you had something similar in your life? When was the last time you drew a picture, invented a strikingly beautiful and delicious recipe, danced, told a story, decorated your house, or wrote a song?

It's the Holiday Season - 2018

It’s officially the Holiday season and despite the fact that NEPTUNE has been sitting in the Gate of DOUBT for months, making us question all things spiritual, now is the time to focus on what is holy in our life and by that I mean our family and friends! Because pomp and circumstance aside, isn’t that truly what the Holidays are about?

I have no desire to take away from the spiritual aspect of the season, it is a wonderful thing to reflect carefully about our faith at this time. That is the whole point of this transit and the Holidays for that matter. But just know if you reflect too carefully, The Gate of Doubt may challenge your faith. Use this challenge as an opportunity to question your faith in a positive way. Do you walk your talk? Does your faith make you a better person? If so, your spirituality will stand up nicely to the test and be the better for the analysis in the end.

Speaking of challenges, SATURN has been challenging our capacity for JOY since October 17th and will continue to do so until December 15th. Are you someone who allows yourself to feel JOY in your life? Do the simple things delight you? SATURN knows this is a choice and if you are not careful, it just might force you to learn just how important it is to choose to feel JOY. Allow yourself to feel JOY when the opportunity presents itself and more importantly recognize when that happens. Now is not the time to take anything for granted or focus on the negative. SATURN will not approve.

When SATURN shifts into THE FIGHTER on December 16th. Try not to allow this energy to put you in defensive mode with your family. Rather, be prepared to fight for the well being of your loved ones instead. FIGHT to truly connect this year.

From Wednesday, October 31 through Monday, November 5th the Sun has transited into Gate 44, PRESENTATION. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called COMING TO MEET.

This is the energy for PRESENTING the lessons we have learned from the past either to sell us on why repeating the past would be best or why we must avoid the mistakes of the past. This is intuitive, splenic energy so there can be a downright fear of the past which can also manifest as an obsession for the past.

It is also the energy for making things nice. Appearances are very important to people with this energy. The expression of this energy is often the host with the most. They desire to make things beautiful, comfortable, and pleasant for themselves and others. They will often have an intuitive, very tasteful eye for design. For them a beautiful home that looks nice and smells nice is necessary to feel good.

So what can the past teach us right now? Can we look to the past to know what works and doesn’t work? Were the good old days in fact good? What did we do right back then and what did we do wrong? Some folks think everything was better back in the day but odds are everything was better for their specific demographic.

Which begs the question. What can we learn from the past to make things better for all of us today?

STRUGGLE - The Sun in Gate 28 #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

From Thursday, October 25 through Tuesday, October 30, 2018 the Sun will be in Gate 28, STRUGGLE or TENACITY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called PREPONDERANCE OF THE GREAT.

Life can really seem like a STRUGGLE for the person who has Gate 28 defined. But what people with this energy are sometimes not aware they actually thrive on the STRUGGLE. Things don’t seem worth it unless they are difficult.

I heard Chetan Parkyn once say that in his observation, and I’m paraphrasing, the person with the Gate of STRUGGLE will walk right past an open, welcoming front door to climb over a gate and through a back window to get into a house.

A task will seem meaningless to someone with STRUGGLE defined in their chart if it is too easy and that really is the point. This energy is about the search for meaning. Because there is a very potent fear here that life has no meaning. If everything is easy, what’s the point? These are the people who choose extremely difficult, complicated work. Is that not a blessing to society?

How does STRUGGLE play a part in your life? Does everything seem hard to you? Or are you someone who seeks to work smart and simplify things in your life. Would it kill you to do something the hard way for once? Or do you resent how other people seem to sail through life when every day for you feels like a STRUGGLE? Is the STRUGGLE indeed a bad thing? Or does the STRUGGLE make your life meaningful? What would happen if you took the easy way out for once? Would it make you feel empty?

VALUES - The Sun in Gate 50 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

From Saturday, October 20 through Wednesday, October 24, 2018, the Sun will be in Gate 50, VALUES. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE CAULDRON.

This is very potent, highly influential energy for transmitting and protecting the VALUES of the tribe. Think Mama Bear or the ultimate matriarchal Grandma. People without even thinking twice fall into line when they are in this energy’s aura.

It is also the compulsion to take care of the people in your life, a very nourishing energy in fact. For example, it is not unusual for someone with the energy of VALUES to be a wonderful cook.

Of course the danger here could be putting other people’s needs ahead of your own in an unhealthy, codependent way. And as with all energies connected to the spleen there is fear here as well. The fear of not meeting your responsibilities, not doing enough, not taking care of the people in your life enough.

So while we’re on the subject and the energy is in the air, how do VALUES play a role in your life? Do you take care of others to a fault? Where do you rank yourself as far as your priorities go? Are you first in line or last? Why? Do you generally feel like you are never doing enough; never taking care of enough? Is this in light of other people’s expectations or your own? What if you didn’t make dinner tonight? Would the family survive? How does self care play out in your life? Is it possible to be equally nurturing to yourself? Why not? Is there is someone in your life that consistently takes care of you? What have you done lately to take care of them?

CONTINUITY - The Sun in Gate 32 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The sun has now moved into Gate 32, CONTINUITY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called DURATION.

This is the energy for big dreams. Someone who has this energy defined by the sun may be that person who is always talking about their new exciting business plan which unfortunately never seems to materialize. Don’t judge them. It’s not their fault. Because this is the energy to know what business ideas will work without any of the energy to physically make it happen. In truth this gift is for others. Think venture capitalist rather than founder and CEO.

This is intuitive energy, not workforce energy. No matter how certain they are that an idea is meant to be successful (and they are certain) they don’t have the design to make it happen. CONTINUOUSLY trying to be something they are not will lead to frustration and a crushing fear of failure. Which sometimes might lead to paralysis.

But the energy of CONTINUITY is such a beautiful example of how we are put on this earth to work with each other. That we are all pieces of the puzzle is one of my favorite revelations of Human Design. Someone who has the workforce energy to start and sustain a business might not have any sense at all of what business ideas will work.

Put these two energies together with the opportunities for invitation and response to work their magic and watch dreams come true.

INTUITION - The Sun in Gate 57 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved into Gate 57, INTUITION. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE GENTLE.

This is the energy for INTUITION plain and simple. But that’s not so simple is it? How do you trust in something as nebulous as INTUITION? Because it is really about trust.

One, you have to believe you have it in the first place. Second you have to push through your fear of the future. Third, you have to turn your brain off and actually listen to it. Because this energy in particular truly is about listening. The mastery of this energy is clairaudience. Meaning there is the potential here for hearing voices or sounds that are unattainable for others which communicate the truth.

In fact, this energy is the strongest indication in the chart for psychic abilities.

But I would argue whether you have this energy defined or not, we all have varying types of intuition. Most of the gates of the spleen for example have a particular sort of intuition, there are the transits of course, and we must not forget the amplification of other people’s intuitive abilities can be very powerful. But for those of us who have this energy defined, this INTUITION works in a fixed manner. That is what definition means. The energy is fixed.

So while we’re on the subject what does INTUITION mean to you? Do you have it? Do you trust it? Do you think other people are crazy when they talk about their INTUITION? Why? When your INTUITION tells you to walk away from something do you do it? How does that turn out? What does your INTUITION tell you on a day to day, hour by hour basis?

Are you even listening?

DEPTH - The Sun in Gate 48 - #HUMANDESIGN #ICHING #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS

The sun has now moved into Gate 48, DEPTH. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE WELL.

DEPTH is part of the Understanding Circuit in Human Design which is associated with the logical side of humanity who require proof and repetition to support any theory. It is also part of the Channel of Talent which includes Gate 16, Skills. This is not magical talent that comes out of nowhere. Although Gate 16 is definitely associated with natural talent and enthusiasm. What DEPTH brings to table is the need to practice and learn until we feel we are adequate for the task. Natural talent and enthusiasm combined with the desire to work hard create the formula for amazing displays of mastery. Or not.

This energy on its own however can be challenging. As with all gates in the Spleen, the low expression of this energy is fear. In this case, you guessed it, the fear of inadequacy. But again as with all fears associated with the spleen, the trick is to push through and do it anyway which will result in the fear most likely melting away rather quickly. Tell that to someone with DEPTH in a prominent position on their chart without its partner in crime (Gate 16 Skills) and they’ll stare at you like you have two heads.

As I mentioned, this logical energy is compelled to put in the work until they feel adequate. The trouble is how do they know for sure exactly when they are adequate? Because the logical bent of this circuitry needs proof. But how can they have proof unless they actually do it?

The truth is, people with this energy usually put in more work and energy into things than people who don’t have this energy. So yeah, they are more than ready. But they probably will never feel ready.

There lies the rub.

How do you handle your fears of inadequacy? Are you one of those lucky people who think they are awesome at absolutely everything? Why not? What proof do you have that you would be bad at something unless you actually try it? Are you brave enough to be bad at something until you have put in enough work to be great? What if after all that work you’re not that great? Is that OK?

What if you shared your DEPTH of knowledge and experience with others? What’s the worst that can happen? You will always know less than some and more than others. but you will for sure have something to contribute.

Just do it.

CORRECTION - The Sun in Gate 18 #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #ICHING #TRANSIT

The Sun has now moved into Gate 18, CORRECTION. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called WORK ON WHAT HAS BEEN SPOILT.

This is one of those lovely energies that gets a bad wrap. I love the intuition to CORRECT or tweak something until it is perfect. It is about striving for perfection and I really can’t get mad at that.

What is important to note however is that this energy really isn’t meant for our family and/or ourselves. Turn this energy inward and we could pick ourselves to death. For there can be a strong fear of not being perfect with this energy. Turn it on our loved ones and they just might not experience this energy to CORRECT with the loving intention intended. Arbitrary criticism never feels good.

But this is brilliant energy for the editor. Is there anything worse than reading a book and having a typo thrust you out of the narrative? I hate that. Don’t you hate that? Isn’t there great JOY in experiencing a perfectly edited book? Because the gate on the other end of this channel is called JOY. Do you see why?

As with all projected energy, wait for right timing and even better wait for the invitation to offer your insight on how to CORRECT something. It really does make all the difference in how the advice is perceived.

This is especially important during this transit where the Earth is also transiting in Gate 17, OPINIONS. You can see how the urge to express your OPINIONS while you also very strongly have the urge to CORRECT things that aren’t perfect might get you into a little hot water this week. Tread lightly. Be kind.

Also, try to be understanding when you find yourself on the other end of this energy. Decide right now to automatically assume all advice is coming from a place of love this week.

Understand that this energy to strive for perfection is a good thing. Just don’t let it tie you into knots about not being perfect. It is easy to become distracted by the flaws around us. Take the time to figure out if those flaws are any of your business.

This is one of those periods that is great for recognizing what isn’t working in your life and tweaking things for the better. Why do you have your television in that spot that cricks your neck every night? What can you do to CORRECT that rather than continue to live with it?

Do you see the joy that can be had from making the slightest tweak for the better?

The Sun - Transiting Tuesday, September 4 Through Sunday, September 9, 2018 #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

The Sun is now in Gate 64, CONFUSION, In the I-Ching this hexagram is called BEFORE COMPLETION. 

This energy has a direct connection to the the super consciousness. Huge concepts arrive out of nowhere and are, at least at first, impossible to fully understand or explain to others. There is a huge sense of inspiration but the thought is unformed because it is BEFORE COMPLETION.

Here is where faith comes in. Faith that over time our subconscious will slowly work whatever it is out. Faith that when the time is right all will become clear if it is meant to be clear. It is about relaxing and allowing the sense of it all to take form organically. Because the harder someone with this energy tries to make sense of it, the more CONFUSED they will become. 

I don't know about you but I've been feeling a bit unsure of myself and easily CONFUSED today. It's hard to say if this is due to the Sun's transit into Gate 64 but I can certainly choose to take this as an opportunity to make relaxing into the CONFUSION my priority. With an open Head there is always the possibility that I am feeling pressure to act on inspiration that is not my own; even more incentive to attempt to relax and wait to see if things become clear. 

There is a lot in the Human Design Chart that teaches us to wait; whether it be for an invitation, clarity, or an external sign. Waiting goes against how many of us were raised but the universe is set up to guide us along our path if, and that's a big if, we allow ourselves to trust it and be open to it. If we can relax and allow it to happen, the correct people and situations will be magnetically drawn to us and we will have the ability to know they represent the right path. 

Listen to me. As much as I prefer to keep these messages simple and understandable, I am unable to resist delving into the larger concepts whether I can explain them clearly or not. Not so simple when CONFUSION reigns.

What is not simple is gaining the patience and having the faith to trust that our path will be revealed to us. That's not simple at all. 

The energy of CONFUSION is designed to teach us how to relax and to allow the huge concepts to become clear over time. There is no room for impatience here. Allow yourself to be CONFUSED and let your mind wander. You might never be able to explain it to anyone else. That may or may not be the point.     

If you are meant to fully understand the download you will. In the meantime, enjoy the mental gymnastics. They can be super fun if you're not attached to the outcome. Oh my, there is another big concept, plop.

Oh, and try not to be frustrated if the people in your life are lost in their heads and not listening to you this week. It is understandable is it not? This is visual energy so step into their sight line and wave if you need their attention.    

The Sun - Transiting Wednesday, August 29 through Monday, September 3, 2018 #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

The sun has now moved into Gate 40, LONELINESS. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called DELIVERANCE. 

This is the energy of LONELINESS in all its permutations. Someone with this energy defined certainly needs their alone time. It is quite necessary for their well being and also necessary for their unique process of DELIVERING results. 

But they also may feel very LONELY in general which in many cases drives them to reach out to others. This need to connect and resulting efforts to do so never quite shake the sense of LONELINESS however. So this energy may find themselves focusing on the lack of connection rather than the actual connection, often feeling the most LONELY with the people they love. No matter how much attention and love they get, they will feel ALONE. 

It is easy to blame others for this feeling. The reasoning being "If this person really did care about me I wouldn't still feel so ALONE." I have been on the other end of this energy. It is truly a helpless feeling when no matter what you do it is never enough to satisfy their sense of LONELINESS. You really feel like a failure. 

Awareness is key. I can appreciate now that it is not my fault when someone with this energy prominently defined in their chart is disappointed in my efforts at connecting. Alternatively, if you have this energy and are aware that this is simply who you are and not the direct result of someone else's behavior. Wow, what a difference that makes.

So if you are celebrating your birthday this week, give this some thought. It is OK to feel LONELY. It is a fundamental part of who you are. In your ALONENESS you are able to process and DELIVER amazing results in this world. Other people cannot make you feel any different for any length of time and it is not their fault. But DO continue to reach out and connect with them. This is also a fundamental part of who you are. It is in the seeking that transformation happens for all parties involved.  

As for the rest of us, how does LONELINESS play a part in your life? Do you avoid being ALONE at all costs? Why? Do you love being ALONE? Do you believe someone when they tell you and show you they care? Why not? Would you not want to join the club that would have you as it's member? Why not? Would it be possible to give the people in your life the benefit of the doubt and actually trust that they care?

This is also a truly wonderful period to take some time to yourself and self reflect. Revel in being ALONE if you can.

The Sun has now moved to Gate 59, SEXUALITY or INTIMACY. In the I-Ching, this hexagram is called DISPERSION.

This energy is all about connection. The keynote says it all. SEXUALITY is for sure at play here but I see it more as seeking connection. This energy wants to penetrate the auras around it, to truly experience INTIMACY. It is grasping towards the solar plexus, seeking creative INTIMACY.   

Gate 59 is unconsciously defined by three planets in my chart.  The Sun in line 4, Mercury in line 3, and Venus in line 3. I don't actually think of myself as a super sexual person. I like SEX, but I don't think I'm oozing SEXUALITY. Of course that perception is pretty classic for unconscious energy. In practice however I was actually very cautious about expressing my SEXUALITY; a classic "or not," scenario.  

But I do tend to value connected friendships. I'm not particularly comfortable with small talk. I prefer to go deep. There are other factors in my chart that create intense friendship bonds. But my tendency to penetrate the facade and connect definitely factors into this dynamic. In a way this also benefits my readings. I am comfortable with connecting with someone on a deeper level even if I have just met them.

So let me ask, what exactly does INTIMACY mean to you? What about SEXUALITY? Do you find it difficult to connect INTIMATELY with others? Or are you someone who prefers to connect with people on a deeper level? Are you uncomfortable when someone penetrates your space? Does it depend on the person? How does your SEXUALITY play out in your life? If you are having trouble connecting with someone you care about, this transit may help you feel closer. Or not.

But why not use this transit as an excuse to go deep?

I didn't mean that as a double entendre but I suppose you could go with that if you'd like.

Adinkra: Commitment Perseverance. "I shall marry you."

Today the Sun has moved into Gate 29, PERSEVERANCE or COMMITMENT. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE ABYSMAL. 

This is the energy for fully COMMITTING and sticking to things for better or worse. The full channel (meaning this gate and the opposite gate defined) is often described as "succeeding where others fail." This is simply due to straight up PERSEVERANCE. People with this energy don't give up, or not.

As with all energies it goes both ways but is a theme in their lives regardless. The rebellious sort will refuse to COMMIT because deep down they know it will be very difficult for them to walk away.

The other side of this is over COMMITTING. Gate 29 is sometimes lovingly called "the gate of yes." It has a hard time saying no. Once people catch on to this personality trait, they will tend to take advantage. If unchecked, a person with this energy can over COMMIT themselves into poor health. Even the sacral defined person can burn out. It takes a lot, but it certainly does happen.

So I invite you to take this opportunity to meditate on how exactly COMMITMENT and PERSEVERANCE play out in your life. Do you avoid COMMITMENT? Why? Do you tend to say yes way too much and over extend yourself? How can you hold yourself responsible for establishing boundaries? Are you the type to PERSEVERE no matter what? If not, is that a bad thing? What will it take for you to stick to your COMMITMENTS?

Like all energies, too much or too little leads to imbalance. Be like Goldilocks and find your sweet spot.

The Sun has now moved into Gate 4, ANSWERS or MENTAL SOLUTIONS. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called YOUTHFUL FOLLY.

This is the energy for having the ANSWERS, whether they are accurate or not. Depending on whether the AJNA is undefined or defined it can also be pressure to be certain of that ANSWER even if it is just a guess.

Guess who had Gate 4 defined by the Sun at the time of her birth? Miss Cleo, famous for her Psychic Readers Network advertisements. Boy did she have the ANSWERS.

But so did Julia Child.

The thing is, I have absolutely no problem with turning to Miss Julia Child for the ANSWERS to any cooking question. Gate 4 in line 5, defined by the Sun may mean I'm projecting this on to her but I'm at peace with that.  

So this energy creates the need to have the ANSWERS. How we decide to approach this in our lives is up to us. Julia Child studied her craft. People were drawn to her for ANSWERS and I would imagine she felt the weight of that. Whether Miss Cleo did the same is up for debate. But I do not have any doubt she wanted to have the ANSWERS and did her share of investigating and experimenting with the ANSWERS as a 1/3 profile.

While this very interesting energy is transiting, I invite you to entertain the idea of having all the ANSWERS. What is your relationship to ANSWERS? Do you have all the ANSWERS? When a subject comes up during conversation are you quick to jump in with the ANSWERS? Are you sure you have the right ANSWER? Should you maybe look into things a little bit more before chiming in? Do people look to you for the ANSWERS? Do you hate it when someone has all the ANSWERS? Do you have trouble trusting yourself when you have the ANSWER? Why?

Thinking about the ANSWERS to the universe and searching for the ANSWERS is a wonderful thing; a truly admirable pursuit.

But critical thinking is imperative. Fake news is an excellent example of an ANSWER for ANSWER'S sake. But if you decide to call something fake news does that simple act make it inaccurate? If the news in question is actually, upon further investigation accurate but is repeatedly called fake, does it even qualify as news anymore? If something blatantly false is repeatedly referred to as the ANSWER does the repeating of it in fact make it news?

Perception is key isn't it? My ANSWER is different from your ANSWER. But what is the truth?

The Sun has now moved into Gate 7, SELF-IN INTERACTION or LEADERSHIP SUPPORT. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE ARMY. 

The energy of Gate 7 is all about supporting democratic LEADERSHIP. It can get itself into trouble however if this energy attempts to take the LEAD itself. It's understandable really because this energy instinctively knows what it takes to be a LEADER but energetically it is simply a non starter. Put this energy behind a true LEADER however and watch them take over the world!

In a true democracy LEADERSHIP absolutely needs support to be effective. Without that support, without its ARMY, it is utterly powerless. What a wonderful gift to be the fuel for excellent LEADERSHIP. To intuitively know and recognize the soul of a true leader and have the tools in your toolbox to help them succeed.  

I invite you to consider your role in this exchange. Are your democratic LEADERS flourishing or floundering? What if you stepped in to help and SUPPORT them? Do they deserve that SUPPORT? Are you a democratic LEADER in need of SUPPORT? How can you effectively hone yourself and your message so that people recognize your potential and join your ARMY?

Just the other day I found myself responding to requests for financial support in various political races across the country. I donated $5 here and $10 dollars there and setup up a couple recurring monthly donations. It's not much, but I am hopefully just one part of a wave of support.

This week in particular is a wonderful time to experiment with taking that first step towards actually putting yourself out there to physically SUPPORT a LEADER you believe in.

If it feels right, be the SUPPORT we all need for a better tomorrow.

The sun has now moved into Gate 33, PRIVACY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called RETREAT. 

PRIVACY is the energy for holding on to the stories of the past and sharing them when the timing is right. This is the energy of the HISTORIAN.

Now some people with this energy defined may hold on to their own past in an unhealthy way. Repeating the same story over an over, making it their identity and holding on to resentments. But the lesson here is forgiveness; understanding the story is sacred and true and then letting it go when the timing is right.  

This can also be a lonely energy, for RETREAT is necessary at times to truly process the story and understand when it needs to be shared. It is an energy that is focused not only on its own story, but also the sacred stories of others that need to be shared for the lesson contained for us all.

 The historian recognizes that the past is the key to understanding the present.

So I invite you to ponder the story of your past. What are you holding on to that has already taught you the lesson to be learned? Is it possible to let it go now? If you have not processed the lesson, what can you do to fully address your story and forgive? Does it need to be shared to be released? Or is it possibly now time to stop rehashing it and reliving it? 

Our stories are what make us human. We all have one, two, or three of our own. But who would we be without our experience thus far? Is this wisdom not a blessing?

Now is also the time to look around and truly take in the stories of the people around us. What can we learn? Colin Kaepernick has this energy defined by the sun in his chart and he recognized the sacred importance of the various stories of black men being gunned down by law enforcement. He knew society needed to be reminded of these stories; that these stories from the past and the present need be part of the conversation. So he used his celebrity to bring it to the consciousness.
